Hazardous Waste Drop-off Nov. 4

KENT—There will be a Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Saturday, Nov. 4, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brookfield High School, 45 Long Meadow Hill Rd. It is open to residents of 14 towns, including Kent.

Those bringing hazardous substances must remain in their vehicles at all times and have the items placed at the back of the vehicle. They should be prepared to present identification. Workers will remove the contents from the car. 

Items that can be disposed of include such things as paint, paint thinners and strippers, cleaners for rugs and upholstery, polishes, pesticides, engine degreasers, dry cleaning solvents, oven and toilet bowl cleaners, herbicides and insecticides, and much more. Homeowners should not bring items such as fluorescent light bulbs, motor oil or antifreeze, auto batteries, propane tanks, ammunition, etc.
