KENT—Good cheer filled the hall at the Kent Community House last Saturday, Dec. 14, as the Kent Historical Society held its 22nd annual Holiday Celebration. The event is held each year as the historical society thanks the community for its support throughout the year.

A groaning board filled with delicacies donated by attendees and local businesses filled the center of the room and light libations were poured as guests mixed and mingled. Hank Milligan played piano while a group of small children danced and played near the stage.

Holiday happenings at the historical society continue this Friday, Dec. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Seven Hearths, 4 Studio Hill Road, the society’s museum. Stop by to view the museum’s displays and to visit the Holiday Shop where unique gifts featuring Kent history and the artwork of George Laurence Nelson are offered. Purchases help to support the arts, history and education in the community.

While there, visitors can tour the museum and view the works of Nelson, an eminent painter of New York City’s high society at the turn of the last century. Nelson lived and painted in Seven Hearths from 1919 until his death in 1978 and the museum has a large collection of his art.
