Hi, what are you looking for?

Deborah Rose

Deborah Rose is a lifelong writer, photographer, poet and award-winning journalist. She brings us more than 25 years in community journalism and, as a lifelong New Milford resident, extensive knowledge of the region. Many may recognize her from her years working at The Spectrum publication.

Today, Deborah is the editor, writer and photographer for the Town of New Milford’s tourism and community website, NewMilfordNow.

Prior to that, her career began at the former New Milford Times, where she was a writer and photographer. In 1998, she was sought as one of the original staff members of the Greater New Milford Spectrum, a weekly print and online publication that served seven towns, including Kent.

Deborah worked at The Spectrum for more than two decades as writer, photographer and, in more recent years, editor. During her time at The Spectrum, she wrote about and took photographs of the people, businesses, and community happenings in Kent. She is an advocate for community journalism and believes a town print/online publication enhances community pride, providing a forum to showcase and celebrate all things in town.

Deborah also brings nonprofit experience to the board, having helped launch the Ostomy Foundation, a New Milford-based 501(c)(3) Public Charity where she serves as VP of Public Relations. She has also been a volunteer and supporter of another nonprofit, the Foundation 4 Orphans, and she has been a hospice volunteer for many years.

Deborah is active in her hometown. She was appointed as New Milford Poet Laureate in 2022 and serves on the town’s Cultural District Committee, among other committees.
