Barin Rovzar

Barin is a strategy and corporate finance executive, based in New York. She and her husband recently bought a home in Kent and were attracted by the strong sense of community and civic-mindedness. Barin brings business and media experience to the Board and is committed to the cause of local news and its importance to a functional society and thriving democracy.

Professionally, she has worked for Hearst for over a decade, currently leading investment activities for the company’s healthcare businesses. She also has prior nonprofit board experience at Next City, an online publication focused on sustainable ideas for cities, as well as her children’s nursery school. She is a graduate of Cornell University and Northwestern University.

Barin spends weekends in Kent with her two school-age children, where you can find them at the Kent Memorial Library, hiking local trails, and in their backyard, trying to cultivate a green thumb.
