Swift House Committee seeks information about potential uses

As reported in The GTD previously, the Kent Board of Selectmen has voted to submit an application to the state for a STEAP Grant for improvements to Swift House. The grant would not require matching town funds.

If awarded, it would be used to meet ADA requirements for public accessibility and for other improvements such as air-conditioning, wi-fi and electrical upgrades in anticipation of moving one of the town’s municipal departments from the currently overcrowded Town Hall to a new office at Swift House, and for continued community use of other spaces, as in the past.

If you are involved with a civic organization or recreational “affinity group” (such as an art or musical group, Tai Chi class, bridge club, and the like) that might have an interest in using Swift House for regular or occasional activities once renovations have been made, the Swift House Task Force wants to hear from you as soon as possible.  

The selectmen have asked us to provide them with information re potential future uses of Swift House, in addition to a relocated municipal office. The information gathered will be important to help illustrate the Swift House’s broad benefit to the Kent community at large in the town’s STEAP Grant application.
