Sharon Playhouse announces spring classes

SHARON—Registration for a variety of spring classes at the Sharon Playhouse are now open, including youth, teen and adult classes.

Among the youth classes are two sessions of Movement for Munchkins, for ages 3 to 5. The first classes is designed to support early childhood development through dance, songs and interactive storytelling. Grownups are encouraged to join in. The classes will run Saturdays, March 29 through May 10, 10:00-10:45 a.m.

A second session will be held from 11-11:45 a.m. on the same mornings to introduce the “munchkins” to music, rhythm and sound, providing a strong foundation for future musical studies. 

Both sessions continue for seven weeks and cost $140.

Sharon Playhouse Stars! for ages 6-8 will also be held Saturdays, March 29-May 10, 12:30 to 2 p.m. and offers youngsters a chance to learn songs, dance and performance techniques, culminating in a special showcase ($200).

Kids’ Caberet, for ages 9-14, is also scheduled for March 29-May 10, 2:30-to-4:30 p.m., offers participants an opportunity to develop confidence, teamwork and stage presence while working on scenes and songs from popular musicals ($250).

The Sharon Playhouse One-day Camp for ages 8-13 is slated for Monday, April 14, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. It is a day of theater games, vocal training, choreography and acting exercises with professional teaching artists ($140).

Teen and adult classes include Beginner Tap, ages 13 and older, Wednesdays, March 26-May 7, 6-7 p.m. ($150); Studying the Scene, ages 15 and older, Tuesdays, March 25-May 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. ($225); Musical Theater Scene Study, ages 15 and older, Thursdays, March 27-May 8, 6:30-9 p.m. ($300); Play Soiree: Noises Off, ages 15 and older, Friday, April 11, 6:30 p.m., a one-night reader’s theater event ($20), and an Adult Comedy Night, ages 21 and older, Friday, May 2, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ($35).
