KENT—The Kent Art Association opened its March Representational Juried Show Friday, March 7, with an opening reception that celebrated the works of 44 artists.

“This show brings Kent Art Association back to its roots in Representational Art, and as such, we are very proud to showcase some of the best work in our region through this professionally juried show,” said Executive Director Deborah Shiflett-Fitton. “We like to think the founders of KAA would be very pleased with the thoughtfulness that went into the selections of the wonderful work on display”
In addition to traditional mediums, there is a variety of non-traditional work, including fiber art, mixed media, monotypes, encaustic, Intaglio prints and natural sculpture. Ninety-seven works are featured in this exhibition.
Awards were given to:

Rebecca Leer, Best in Show for her oil painting, “Clouds over Manana”
Mary Terrizzi, Second Place for her mixed media painting, “Simone with Poppies”
Erin Cordle, Third Place for her oil painting, “Mangrove Fishing”
Dennis Stuart, Honorable Mention for his oil painting, “Turkey in the Meadow”
Shawn Sullivan, Honorable Mention for his oil painting, “Palms in Light”
Carol Thoma Moore, for her pastel, “Mixmaster”
Merrill French, for her oil painting, “Morning in Bryant Park”

Scott Bricher, for his monotype, “Migration”
The judges were Susan Grisell and Jim Laurino.
The show runs through March 30. The KAA gallery is open Thursdays-Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 4 p.m.
