KENT—The Quilt Trail Sale has entered its final two weeks, and will end on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Members of Kent Quilters, a group of talented sewers and designers, created the quilts that are displayed in local businesses and sold each year to raise funds for different non-profits.

This quilt is for sale on the Quilt Sale Trail and will benefit the Kent Volunteer Fire Department. Photo contributed.

While most of the quilts are made by individual crafters, one special piece is made each year by the entire group working together at town hall Saturday mornings.

For the past five years, J.P. Giffords at 12 North Main St. has anchored this event, exhibiting the group quilt during the two-month townwide exhibit and sale.

The recipient of the contribution this year will be the Kent Volunteer Fire Department. The queen-size, red-and-white quilt “Red-y Responders” has yet to find a buyer. Its cost is $1,250.

Members suggest that if an individual purchaser does not purchase it in the next two weeks, another option would be for a group to band together to purchase it and gift it to the fire department or hang in a public location so everyone can enjoy it.

If a group decides to undertake this to support the fire department, checks should be made out to KVFD, and sent to Kent Quilters, c/o Chairman Jane Zatlin, P.O. Box 751, Kent, CT 06757.

If a single purchaser emerges, the checks will be returned.

Kent Quilters is in its 10th year. The quilts can be previewed here.
