LAKEVILLE—Project SAGE will hos its annual vigil and a Red Sand Project action Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Community Field.

The event will begin at the field, 10 Sharon Road, and proceed with a candlelight Remembrance Walk to the Project SAGE office at 13A Porter Street.

The vigil honors individuals who have lost their lives to domestic violence in Connecticut over the past year, while reaffirming Project SAGE’s commitment to ending relationship violence.

A small reception will be held following the memorial ceremony.

Attendees are invited to arrive at Community Field 15 minutes early to participate in a Red Sand Project action to raise awareness of human trafficking.

Red Sand Project earthworks are large-scale, site-specific outdoor land art installations.

Stretching hundreds of feet long in the shapes of political borders, earthworks raise questions about migration, freedom of movement, and the ways refugees are susceptible to exploitation.

All are welcome to join for any or all of the evening’s activities.

Of note, the vigil will include discussions and reflections on sensitive topics, including domestic violence and human trafficking.

Those who need support or more information, should contact Project SAGE’s office anytime 24/7 at 860-364-1900.

Project SAGE creates social change to end interpersonal relationship violence by challenging attitudes and beliefs about power, control, and gender norms and by advocating for victims and survivors.

It serves clients in Canaan, Falls Village, Cornwall, Kent, Salisbury/Lakeville, Sharon, nearby New York and Massachusetts towns as well as communities served by GA-18 court (Bridgewater, New Milford, Roxbury).
