Park and Rec plans Meteor Shower Party for Aug. 11

KENT—The Park and Recreation Commission will hold a Meteor Shower Watch Party at the Kent Farmers Market field to watch the Perseid meteor shower Sunday, Aug. 11 to 12, midnight to 2 a.m. Cosmic snacks will be served.

The Perseid shower started on July 14, and runs through Sept. 1. Space.com predicts the shower will be at its peak on the night of Sunday, Aug, 11, through Monday, Aug. 12. The shower will be most visible in the pre-dawn hours.

Participants should bring chairs or a blanket. Registration at parkandrec@townofkentct.org or by calling 860-927-1003 is required to communicate weather-related changes. The field is located 37 South Main St.
