KENT—The deadline for applications for the Lions Club Scholarship is May 15. Applicants must live in Kent and have graduated from Kent Center School as well from one of the area high schools: Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Kent School, Marvelwood School, South Kent School or Oliver Wolcott.

The Lions Club sponsors up to three scholarships for first year, college-bound students as well as a fourth scholarship for a returning college student, based on leadership and volunteer service in the community.

“It is such a pleasure to support young folks in their journey for learning and community service” said Bernadette Ellegard, scholarship committee chair. “Each year we get to meet a handful of extraordinary Kent kids.”

The Lions Club is a civic organization with 60 volunteers who gather to support the community. Through fundraising, awareness activities, and donating their time to various projects and initiatives, they strive to make Kent a better place.
