KENT, Conn.—The Kent Art Association has delayed its 33rd annual Student Show reception until Feb. 22 – when it will be a closing reception – due to a series of expected storms.

However, the show is under way. Works are on display at the gallery Thursdays through Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. through Feb. 22.

This show highlights the artwork and accomplishments of the region’s high school students.

The individual school winners are Alex Wilbur, “Self Portrait,” Housatonic Valley Regional High School; Selah Witt, “Selah’s Studio,” Millbrook High School; Rebecca Tu “Untitled,” The Frederick Gunn School; Llewelyn Davis “Untitled,” Forman School; Tomas Puhalla, “Airplane,” South Kent School; and Owen Brown, “Bumble Life,” Marvelwood School.

The Best of Show award will be announced at the closing reception, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Awards will be formally announced at 2 p.m.

The judge for the show was longtime arts supporter, Lynn Kearcher.

“We are thankful for the ongoing efforts for this show through the leadership of co-chairs Carl Chaiet and Michael Spross, both retired high school art teachers and active KAA members” said KAA president Joan Macfarlane.

Formed in 1923, The Kent Art Association builds networks and promotes the works of local artists through shows and events hosted in its historic building and gallery. Located at 21 S. Main St. in the town of Kent, KAA is a non-profit community organization. Visit it at www.kentart.org.
