KENT—The Kent Art Association, 21 South Main St., has opened its Fiber Arts Show, an invitational and juried show of tactile art that will be on view through June 1. The four invited fiber artists are Carlos Biernnay, Karen Griska, Judy Scheck and Kate Stiassni.
Stacy Bogdonoff won Best of Show for her sculpture titled “Shelter 20” made of paper, wire, cotton and lacquer. Lisa DeLoria Weinblatt won honorable mention for her work titled “Morning/Evening,” an embroidered multi-media piece consisting of thread, fabric, paper and metal.
Judges for the show were Karen Eckmeier and Muriel Stockdale.
There are three planned demonstrations/talks for the Fiber Arts Show, all of which are free and begin at 1p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Saturday, May 18, award-winning fiber artist Karen Eckmeier will present “Painting with Fabric: The Art of Quilted Collage.” She will be followed on Saturday, May 25, by another award-winning quilter, Barbara Marcone, with “My Quilts Start with a Story.” The programs end Saturday, June 1, with Veralyn Davee of the Kent Quilters presenting ”The History of Quilts.”
Viewing days and hours at KAA are Thursday to Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 4 p.m.
