SHARON, Conn. —The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon will hold Galentine’s Day at the Library on Friday, Feb. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. to celebrate friendship and love.

People without significant others often feel left out during Valentine’s Day, but everyone has someone they adore. To make people feel more included, a new holiday tradition has emerged, known as Galentine’s Day.

Originating from the television show, “Parks and Recreation,” the character Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) introduced the holiday to celebrate female friendships. It has since become a cultural phenomenon that people around the world celebrate.

Gather your best gal friends for an evening of Valentine’s Day trivia, make your own friendship bracelets and bath salts bar and a free lucky door raffle. The library will provide nibbles, sweet treats and refreshments.

This is not only for women, but also for men and all those who want to celebrate friendship.

Registration is required for this event as space is limited. For more information call the library at 860-364-5041 or visit its website.
