Hi, what are you looking for?
The Kent Memorial Library is hosting spring book discussions with historical fiction books at 4:30pm on the following dates:
February 20 Matrix by Lauren Groff
March 20 Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell
April 17 The Western Wind by Samantha Harvey
May 15 Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks
These writers use their imagination and writing skill to create long-ago worlds, should we call their results “fictitious? How should we judge their work: entertainment or history, writing style or imagination? Is there such a thing as a historical novel? Some would say “no.” In these four novels by women, what part do the authors see women playing in the worlds they imagine? These are not the usual questions we bring to our book discussions but they may be topics to consider as we focus on this category of work.
KML book discussions are free and open to the public at 4:30 p.m. on Zoom. To register and reserve books call 860-927-3761 or email kla-bmcallister@biblio.org.
To submit an event for addition to the calendar, please email details to events@kentgtd.org
