LAKEVILLE—Crescendo, an award-winning chorus, is offering area singers an opportunity to take part in a semi-staged production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury.” This lighthearted musical and theatrical production concludes Crescendo’s 20th anniversary season.

“Trial by Jury” tells of a “breach of promise of marriage” lawsuit in which the judge and legal system are the objects of lighthearted satire.

The second part of this performance is entitled “The Trials of Love in the Spring!” and features favorite solo and ensemble numbers from Gilbert and Sullivan operas such as “Patience,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” “H.M.S. Pinafore,” “Iolanthe,” “The Mikado,” “Ruddigore,” and “Princess Ida.”

The production will be directed by Crescendo founder Christine Gevert in collaboration with professional Gilbert and Sullivan singer, John-Arthur Miller. Performances will be given May 4 at 6 p.m. in Trinity Church, Lime Rock, and May 5 at 4 p.m. in St. James Place, Great Barrington, Mass.

The primary rehearsal location will be 484 Lime Rock Rd., Lakeville.

Rehearsals start right away. Call 860-435-4688 or email crescendo@crescendomusic.org.
