Bakers sought for Gingerbread Festival

KENT—Each year, Kent bakers prove what can be done with a little batter and a lot of imagination during the annual Gingerbread Festival.

Castles and cabins, nutcrackers, and North Pole Drive-ins were just a few of the creations that brightened windows and shops during last year’s festival.

Now, the Kent Chamber of Commerce is calling on inspired bakers to participate in the 13th festival this year.

Houses will be displayed at various shops and galleries throughout town during the holiday season.

Interested participants are asked to sign up by Nov. 14 by emailing Ellen Corsell or info@kentct.com.

A map will guide shoppers to the stores that will showcase the gingerbread houses.

A gingerbread man search will be included at participating shops that cannot host a house. These locations will also be included on the map.

The festival should be in place at the beginning of December in time for the Holiday Fest and Parade of Lights, according to Chamber officials.
