KENT—There will be an art reception for Sandra Cointreau, who is currently exhibiting her work at the Kent Memorial Library, Saturday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. During the reception she will give a painting demonstration, discussing the value of learning to paint various techniques through the traditional practice of copying masters.
For the demo, she will copy a watercolor painting of a sycamore tree by Andrew Wyeth and discuss the range of techniques he might have used in that painting.
Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Register by calling 860-927-3761. The library is located at 32 North Main St.
Her exhibit, “The Gentle Beauty of the Animals, Birds and Plants Around Us: Watercolors,” is on display in the gallery through Friday, Aug. 30.
