SHERMAN—Despite a week’s delay due to unforeseen circumstances, the curtain went up last weekend on Sherman Playhouse’s season-opening production of “Habeas Corpus.” The saucy farce will continue April 19, 20, 26, 27 at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. April 21.

Doors open 30 minutes before curtain time. There will be a 15-minute intermission at which time concessions will be available. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Admission is $24 for adults and $12 for youths younger than 13.

First performed in 1973, starring Alec Guinness, Alan Bennett’s comedy takes traditional British farce to the extreme with mistaken identities and not-so-subtle sexual innuendo in a farcical masterpiece of ill-manners.

The Playhouse is located at 5 Route 39 N. The next production will be “Evelyn in Purgatory,” by Topher Paynewhich runs from June 7 through 29.
