Lions learn about visual impairment through Dinner in the Dark

As many of you might know, one of the primary focuses of Lions Clubs is to aid the sight impaired and support healthy eyesight. At our meeting this month we experienced the world of the sight impaired by navigating our dinner meeting blindfolded. The initiative, Dinner in the Dark, (brought to us by member Trisha McMahon), asked our members to eat a three-course meal blindfolded.

It was a fascinating evening of using our other senses to manage an activity that we typically take for granted. We will probably do this again next year and open it to the community as a fundraiser.

We also heard from scholarship recipient Aiden Cherniski about how his experience at Bucknell University. We are gearing up for the spring Connecticut Antique Machinery Association Show, (camamuseum.org ) on April 27 and 28 when we will again be flipping burgers and grilling hotdogs!

Our next blood drive will be on April 15 at the Community House, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Click here if you would like to donate.

Stay tuned – we will be organizing a CPR certification and recertification course in May.
