“Frogger” heralds spring for Kent Land Trust

KENT—“Frogger” is announcing spring for the Kent Land Trust and is also reminding residents to be alert for our smallest neighbors, the little amphibians making their ways across our roads to breed in vernal pools.

Spring amphibian migrations are spurred by a combination of thawed ground, warm nighttime temperatures (above 40°F) and wet weather. The migration is referred to as Big Night, but temperature fluctuations mean that Big Night often occurs at different times in different places.
