KENT—The Social Services Department has issued a plea for donations for the food bank and diaper bank.

Items can be dropped off at the Kent Food Bank, located on the lower level of the Kent Community House, 93 North Main St., on Thursdays, 9:30-11 a.m., or on Fridays, 9:30-noon. If neither day is convenient, call 860-927-1586 or email socialservices@townofkentct.org.

Particularly needed are canned chili, rice, instant mashed potatoes, salad dressing, jelly, peanut butter, baked beans, canned vegetables and fruit, oatmeal packets, condiments, pasta sauce, canned fruit, crackers, cookies, popcorn, nuts, coffee, fruit juice, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and cough drops.

The food bank is available to Kent residents in need of assistance to meet their daily nutritional needs. It is made possible through the support of the Kent Community Fund and the commitment of a team of volunteers.

The Diaper Bank provides diapers, wipes, and infant hygiene products (dependent on availability) one time each month to income qualified Kent households. This program is for infants through age 3. Pre-registration is required.

A call has gone out for donations of wet wipes and diapers, size 5, 6 and 7.
