KENT—Even with a free meals policy in place for the Region 1 school district, it is still necessary for parents to submit a free/reduced-price meal application at their specific school. Completing an application takes fewer than 10 minutes and all information remains private and confidential.

Only one application per household is needed. Meal applications may be downloaded from the school’s website or obtained from the district’s food service director.

The following eligibility guidelines will be used in Connecticut for children who can receive free of reduced-price meals served under the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program or free milk under the Special Milk Program.

During the school year reduced price eligible students enrolled in a school will receive one school breakfast and one school lunch each school day free of charge. For children not on the reduced/free meals program the 2024-25 school year breakfast costs $2.50 and lunch costs $3.50.

Local school officials have adopted the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) income guidelines.
