There will be a special Monday Rhythm & Rhyme program in the Junior Room on Monday, Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m. Children are invited to sing songs, share a story, and enjoy fun with friends. This program is intended for children from birth to age 3 and adult caregivers, with older children welcome to participate.

Tuesday and Wednesday the library will close for the Christmas holiday, reopening on Thursday, Dec. 26, with a puzzle program from 2 to 3:30 p.m., again in the Junior Room.

There will be Teen & Tween Cozy Movie Night Friday, Dec. 27, 6 to 7:45 p.m. for children in Grades 5 and older. Kids can get cozy in the Junior Room and curl up for this showing of “Home Alone.” Wear pajamas; stuffies and blankets are strongly encouraged.

“Adventure of the Lost Treasure,” an interactive STEM show presented by Science Heroes! is planned for Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. Come to the Junior Room for a treasure-hunting adventure deep within the jungle. Along the way, the audience will help the performer conduct science experiments that bring the story to life.

Children will experiment with chemical reactions, air pressure, physical explosions and more. This program is intended for school-age children.

Sunday, Dec. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m., a Teen & Tween Free Skate will be held at Kent School for grades 5 through 12. Helmets must be worn on the ice and participants should bring their own skates and helments.

Monday, Dec. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. there will be LEGO Free Play. Drop-ins are welcome at this event, which is open to children of all ages. It is not a drop-off program for children younger than 12.

Finally, on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 11:45 a.m. there will be stories about New Year’s traditions from around the world in the Junior Room. Children of all ages are welcome to participate. The library will close at 2 p.m. for New Year’s Eve and will remain closed until Thursday.
