KENT—The children have barely unpacked their school bags and settled into summer vacation, but the State Police Troop L is already planning for their return to the classroom.

Resident Trooper Vicki Donohoe has announced the troop’s “Back-to-School” program to help kids in need. She is collecting backpacks (no wheels), lunchboxes, binders, folders, notebooks (one-subject spiral and composition), paper, pens and pencils, erasers, highlighters, crayons and markers, colored pencils, glue sticks and tape, binders, scissors, calculators, book covers, as well as juice boxes, snacks, water bottles and headphones (but not ear buds).

Supplies can be donated through Aug. 1 by dropping them off in the front lobby at the Town Hall, 41 Kent Green Blvd, or bringing them to State Police Troop L, 452A Bantam Rd., Litchfield, CT 06759.

Trooper Donohoe can be reached at 860-927-3134 for further information.
