GOSHEN—Like a little Woodstock, the Goshen Fairgrounds will welcome campers, their kids and friends this week for a four-day Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival.

John McEuen, who will appear this weekend at the Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival at Goshen Fairgrounds, has spent most of the past 50 years playing banjo and other instruments in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Photo contributed

This annual event is a beacon for bluegrass enthusiasts, drawing together musicians, fans and families for a celebration of traditional and contemporary bluegrass music.

Main Stage performances begin today (Thursday) at 12:30 p.m. with the annual Band Competition sponsored by Telefunken.

There will be three stages offering music from seasoned bluegrass veterans and emerging talents during the weekend. Performers include the Del McCoury Band, John McEuen, co-founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band & The Circle Band; Della Mae, Nick Chandler and Delivered; High Fidelity; The Tennessee Bluegrass Band; The Kevin Prater Band; On The Trail; Fog Holler; Carley Arrowood; Poor Monroe; Cole Quest and The City Pickers, and more.

The music won’t stop with the scheduled performances, however. There will be jam sessions, ’round the clock pickin’ and kids’ activities galore. Thursday evening the Housatonic Stage will host an open mic and jam for anyone interested. Thursday is also Veterans Appreciation Day, and all veterans (active duty, as well) will receive free admission and a meal.

Full festival tickets with or without camping, as well as day tickets, are available here or at the gate.

Podunk is presented by the Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival Inc.
