KENT – Townspeople are invited to participate in the National Day of Prayer today (Thursday, May 2) at 4:30 p.m. outside at the Kent Veterans Memorial, 3 Maple St. The observance is open to all.

Betsey Levesque of South Kent has been one of the organizers of the local prayer service for many years. She said she particularly likes this year’s theme, “Lift up the word – light up the world,” which is from 2 Samuel 22:29-31. This is the 73rd annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. More national info is online.

If it is raining, the gathering will be held at the gazebo on the Kent Green.
