Mushroom exploration offered at Pond Mountain Natural Area June 1

“A Fungus Among Us” will be offered June 1 at 10 a.m. at Pond Mountain Natural Area as part of the Connecticut Trails Day 2024 event sponsored by Connecticut Forest and Park Association.

The event allows participants to discover the fascinating world of mushrooms with seasoned expert David Paton and explore the scenic Pond Mountain Natural Area. With a passion for wild mushrooms dating back to the 1970s, Paton brings a wealth of knowledge to this immersive experience.

Those attending this educational journey will explore mushroom identification, ecology, and the diverse array of edible, poisonous, medicinal, and visually stunning fungi.

Registration is required online and the event is expected to last two hours. The walk will be two miles long.
