KENT—School is back in session and the tempo of life is about to pick up again. The Kent Memorial Library said goodbye to its summer youth programing this week with an Ice Cream Social and is prepared to move smoothly into fall.
There will be some old favorites on the calendar, such as Puppy Storytime for all ages with Animal Control Officer Lee Sohl and her dogs on Saturday, Sept. 7, in the Junior Room and Spanish Storytime with Yaznic Mateos on Friday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., again for all ages.
Friday the 13th, will bring a Teen & Tween Spooky Movie Night screening of “Goosebumps” in the Junior Room for children in grades 5 and older and, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, the Teen Advisory Board will hold its first meeting of the season to choose the title for October’s Book Club! Teens are invited to come to discuss upcoming programs and to make suggestions. It is a drop-off program.
Arts Not Crafts, an art club will be held in the Junior Room Thursday, Sept. 26, at 3:30 p.m. The program is intended for children in Grade 3 and older and can be a drop-off activity with advanced registration.
Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m., local author Libby Koponen will read her new book, “Is that the Bus?” The House of Books will make copies available for purchase and signing.
Finally, Sunday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. a Safesitter babysitting program will be presented. This course is designed to prepare students to be safe when they’re home alone watching younger siblings or babysitting. Students will learn safety skills, First Aid and rescue skills and life and business skills. Registration is required and space is limited. The cost is $30.
