KENT—Registration is now open for the 48th annual Kent Pumpkin Run, which will be held Sunday, Oct. 27 at noon.

Those who register before 11 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2 will pay $25 per person. A graduated cost structure is in place this year: registering between Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Oct. 18 is $30 and between Oct. 19 through Oct. 25 and race day is $35.

Commemorative T-shirts will be given to the first 300 registrants. The certified five-mile event is advertised as Kent’s largest one-day community event with festive air. Prizes are given to top finishers and runners sporting the best costumes.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and race host, the Kent Chamber of Commerce, will donate 20 percent of all registration fees to the Jane Lloyd Fund (a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation). The Jane Lloyd Fund is a unique fund providing direct support for cancer patients’ day-to-day living expenses. Their goal is simple: to raise funds in the name of Jane Lloyd to help individuals battling cancer in Northwest Connecticut live more comfortably and with dignity in their own home during treatment. There is also an opportunity to make a donation during registration checkout to the fund as well as the race’s official charitable beneficiary, The Kent Food Bank, as it prepares for the busiest time of year. Non-perishable donations to the Kent Food Bank (and monetary donations) can be dropped off at the registration tent on race day.
