Dr. Ugurlu named new medical director of Sharon Hospital wound center

SHARON—The Sharon Hospital has has named its new medical director of Wound Care, Dr. Mustafa Ugurlu.

Dr. Ugurlu is currently the chief of the Department of Surgery at Sharon Hospital, a role he took on in 2019 and which he will maintain while he leads wound care. Dr. Ugurlu’s extensive surgical background will be key to the department’s commitment to acute patient care. 

After completing his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ugurlu completed his surgery residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, NY. He joined the Sharon Hospital medical staff in 2016. 

“As the Medical Director of Wound Care at Sharon Hospital, Dr. Ugurlu will be instrumental in furthering our mission to provide the best possible care for our patients,” said Christina McCulloch, Sharon Hospital president. 

Along with the appointment of Dr. Ugurlu, the hospital is adding Doctor of Podiatric Medicine John Zboinski to its wound care roster. A fire investigator with the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Dr. Zboinski began his 30-year journey after graduating from Temple University, School of Podiatric Medicine in 1994. Prior to his affiliation with Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Dr. Zboinski owned and ran a private practice in Rhinebeck, NY, for 13 years.

“Dr. Zboinski will be instrumental in evaluating and treating foot and ankle wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, podiatric surgery, as well as limb preservation and salvation,” said McCulloch. “We are proud to have Dr. Zboinski on our team of care providers.”
