KENT—The celebration of life for Charlotte Irving Lindsey will be moved to the main lodge at Mohawk Mountain Ski Area Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. Expected heavy rain prompts the relocation.
There is a handicap-accessible ramp into the lodge.
A popular and persistent community volunteer, Charlotte Lindsey passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 2, at the home of her daughter, Polly Goddard, on Cape Cod where she had recently moved.
During her residency in Kent she was a dedicated volunteer with many Kent organizations such as the Kent Center School Scholarship Fund, the Veterans Memorial Committee, which researched and built the memorial on Route 341, the Kent Garden Club, the Kent Historical Society and more. With Fran Johnson, she co-wrote One Small Town in World War II about Kent’s contribution to the war.
She had summered in Kent since she was a small child, and moved here as a young adult. She often talked about having moved to her grandfather’s farm in South Kent as a 4-year-old while her father recovered from tuberculosis and it being one of her favorite memories.
After moving to live with her daughter following the death of her husband, antiquarian book dealer Richard Lindsey, she maintained her local connections.
Donations may be made in her memory to the KCS Scholarship Fund, https://www.kcssf.org/ or the Kent Historical Society, https://kenthistoricalsociety.org/.
