Chabrian wins second honor in watercolor competition

KENT—Local artist Deborah Chabrian’s watercolor “Chickens and Cantaloupe” is one of the winners of the Splash 25 Art Competition. Her Kent chickens were included among the top 124 watercolor paintings in the special issue of “The Best of Watercolor” magazine’s summer edition.

The competition is sponsored by Artist Network and “Watercolor Magazine. Splash: The Best of Watercolor attracts watercolorists from all over the world and more than 100 finalists are selected for publication in the special issue as well as vying for cash prizes.

Chabrian is having a stellar year. She was recently awarded “Best Watercolor of the Year” at the PleinAir Convention in Cherokee, S.C., after having semi-finalist paintings in four of categories. About 11,000 artists were included in that competition.
