Casey to talk about his family’s historic businesses

KENT—A special presentation, “People and Places of Kent,” with John Casey will be offered Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m.

Long the center of commerce in Kent, N.M. Watson & Co. was run by the Casey family for many years. A shopper could buy dry goods, lumber, kitchenware, building tools and supplies and just about anything else in this old-fashioned general store. Photo contributed

Casey will talk about his family’s longtime Kent institution, N.M. Watson and Company, the general store and lumberyard on Main Street that once stood where Kent Town Center is now located.

He will also talk about the beginnings of Kent Green.

The program will be held at the Kent Senior Center, 16 Swift Lane.
