SHERMAN—Dr. Chad Seewagen and Dr. Sarah Deckel will present “Avian Research up Close” Saturday, Sept. 28, at 9 a.m. at the Great Hollow Nature Preserve on Deer Pond Farm, 57 Wakeman Hill Rd.
The program will give a close-up look at how permitted researchers safely catch migrating songbirds, mark them with identification bands, collect measurements and other data. Seewagen and Deckel also review the behavioral and physiological adaptations that allow these tiny birds to fly thousands of miles between their northern breeding grounds and southern wintering grounds.
Register here. The cost is $5 for Connecticut Audubon members and $10 for non-members.
