SHERMAN—Dr. Chad Seewagen and Dr. Sarah Deckel will present “Avian Research up Close” Saturday, Sept. 28, at 9 a.m. at the Great Hollow Nature Preserve on Deer Pond Farm.
The program will give a closeup look at how permitted researchers safely catch migrating songbirds, mark them with identification bands, collect measurements and other data.
Seewagen and Deckel will also review the behavioral and physiological adaptations that allow these tiny birds to fly thousands of miles between their northern breeding grounds and southern wintering grounds.
The cost is $5 for Connecticut Audubon members and $10 for non-members.
