SHARON—A highly inventive adaptation of the Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol” will be staged Wednesday, Dec. 18, through Sunday, Dec. 22, in the Bok at Sharon Playhouse.
Performances will be staged Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. (sold out). It has been adapted by Doris Baizley and is co-directed by Andrus Nichols and Drew Ledbetter.
In this version, a company of traveling players is about to enact the Dickens story. The troupe soon discovers that the actors playing Scrooge and Tiny Tim have abandoned the tour, but the show must go on.
The prop boy eagerly volunteers for the part of Tim, while the cynical stage manager is drafted to play the old miser. The ragtag players quickly become the characters of the story, and the audience is pulled into the life of Ebenezer Scrooge.
The cast includes Tess Marks, Alex Wilbur, Peter Basil Mirren, Dominik Valcin, C.C. Stevenson, Ivan Howe, Sienna Rose Lyons, Mira Norbet, Richie Crane, Lyra Wilder, Wild Handel and Kate Drury.
