Objects to Debate Format

Letter to the Editor:

Although the [Oct. 13 candidates] debate was at least a constructive start, there is still a long, long way to go in restoring direct voter contact and opinions openly presented.

Soliciting questions, then editing them and ignoring them is not the way small-town democracy works. Having pre-submitted mine on the condition of Botsford Road is a good example.

Then having registered attendees sit in the dark behind a broadcast school control panel and a Zoom Big Tech Sound Center is hardly effective or balanced. Thankfully, the candidates hinted at this, making plain their need for this broader input.

For nearly a year, we’ve responded to the KGTD’s re-establishment funding effort. If ya ask this old vet journalist, “On line? Lotta whine.” We now should have more “bang for our buck.”
