10 inducted in HVRHS Athletic Hall of Fame

FALLS VILLAGE—Ten more former Housatonic Valley Regional High School athletes were recently inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame, created in 1996, recognizes former athletes, coaches and community members who have made outstanding personal and athletic contributions to HVRHS.

A maximum of 10 honorees are selected on alternating years.

An induction ceremony is held to celebrate the honorees, with a luncheon followed by the awards ceremony during which the honorees and their families are recognized.

This year’s event was held Oct. 27.

The addition of the new inductees raises the total number of honorees to 120, chosen from nominations received by the Hall of Fame Committee since 1996.

The 2024 honorees are: Denise Bergenty, Class of ’73, field hockey, basketball and softball; Tim Hawley, Class of ’71, cross country and track; Julia Neilson, Class of ’98, soccer, basketball and softball; Joseph B. Nilsen, Class of ’54, football and track; Tina Paruta, Class of ’87, cross country, in/outdoor track; Brad Paulsen, Class of ’79, soccer and track; Paul Prindle, Class of ’60, football and track; Robert Ullram, Class of ’66, football, ice hockey and baseball; Maggie Yahn Umaña, Class of ’09; soccer, basketball and track; and Willy Yahn, Class of ’14, soccer, baseball
