ZBA Approves Collins Waiver

KENT—The Zoning Board of Appeals quickly approved an application from William and Rebecca Collins of 5 Chimney Rock Road to increase the size of their nonconforming house this week.

The building, constructed at the turn of the last century, is non-conforming on the left side of the lot, being only seven feet from the property line. The Collins, parents to two young boys, want to add a bedroom and bath on the right side to allow more room for the family. The addition would be 612 square feet, boosting the total square footage of the house to 1,712. It would conform to set back regulations on all sides except the existing non-conformity.

ZBA member Nick Downes moved to accept the waiver, noting that it would not change the nature of the community or affect the Plan of Conservation and Development.

The motion passed unanimously.
