What have we been up to, and what’s coming up?

The fall is our busiest time of year for the Kent Lions Club, and it will not slow down soon.

In recent weeks, members have participated in both the Connecticut Antique and Machinery Show (CAMA) and SPARK, formerly Touch a Trade, literally serving thousands of burgers and hotdogs.

These are great community events, and we are proud to support their efforts.

Our monthly meeting featured Trisha McMahon Adams who spoke about the organization she established called Good Company.

The organization’s volunteers visit individuals who are housebound or lonely to provide company by chatting, playing games or even watching TV.

If you would like to volunteer or know of anyone who may benefit from this service, contact Trisha at MCDigitalmail@gmail.com.

Our Tail Twister challenged the membership to a Halloween Trivia Challenge. Sarah Chase was the champion of the evening.

Coming up, the famous Lions brooms are back in stock and available for purchase Saturday, Oct. 26,from noon to 1 p.m. at Bain Real Estate, 21 N Main St. The cost is $15. Please send an email to info@KentLions.org.

In the interest of safety, the club will once again distribute glow-in-the-dark safety necklaces (and trick-or-treat goodies) on Halloween at Bain Real Estate starting at 4 p.m.

The club holds the charter for the Cub Scouts and in support of the entire scout program in Kent, the Lions are covering the rechartering costs for the adult leaders.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m., Bulls Bridge Inn.
