SHARON—The Sharon Playhouse will present a month of celebrations, special events, and performances for the holiday season.

A one-night-only celebration of the Sharon Playhouse Education Department is planned for Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

Headlining the evening will be “Young at Heart,” a new play written by education and associate artistic director Michael Kevin Baldwin and inspired by the voices of local elementary school students.

The staged reading brings together a cast of local youth, educators and seasoned actors to present a story sure to resonate with all ages. Funds raised will go towards the playhouse’s newly commissioned risers, an upgrade to The Bok that enhances the community’s shared experiences.

Under Baldwin’s direction, the cast of “Young at Heart” includes Darcy Boynton, Ricky Oliver, Sienna Brann, Macey Levin, Katherine Almquist, Jim Flaherty, Susie Hackel, Callan Scott, Ivan Howe, Wild Handel and Lyra Wilder.

The evening will kick off with a special performance by members of the YouthStage Company featuring Ivan Howe, C.C. Stevenson, Sylvie Stevenson, Lyra Wilder, Avery Morrissey, Mira Norbet, Sam Norbet, Kate Drury and Gilvey Barnett-Zunino.

They will deliver three musical numbers: “Heart” from “Damn Yankees,” “Happiness from “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” and “Consider Yourself” from “Oliver!”

The program will run approximately one hour.

All seats are $30 general admission.

Sharon Playhouse will present its fourth annual Holiday YouthStage production, an inventive twist on “A Christmas Carol,” adapted by Doris Baizley and co-directed by Andrus Nichols and Drew Ledbetter.

In this retelling, a troupe of traveling players faces a dilemma when the actors portraying Scrooge and Tiny Tim abandon the tour.

Determined that the show must go on, the eager prop boy steps up as Tim, and the skeptical stage manager reluctantly takes on the role of Scrooge. As these ragtag actors embrace their parts, they transport audiences into the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, capturing the story’s themes of redemption and holiday cheer.

The cast includes Tess Marks, Alex Wilbur, Peter Basil Mirren, Dominik Valcin, C.C. Stevenson, Ivan Howe, Sienna Rose Lyons, Mira Norbet, Richie Crane, Lyra Wilder, Wild Handel and Kate Drury.

“A Christmas Carol” runs in The Bok at the Sharon Playhouse on Wednesday, Dec. 18, through Sunday, Dec. 22, with evening and matinee showtimes.

Tickets range from $20 to $35.
