CORNWALL—The hard work of saving strayed or abandoned pets one-by-one continues unabated this year while the Little Guild of St. Frances, a no-kill shelter, is itself displaced.

While the Little Guild builds a new 8,000-square-foot facility to replace its old facility at 285 Sharon-Goshen Tpke., it has temporarily relocated to Foote Field, Furnace Brook Road in Cornwall Bridge, where it continues to care for approximately 16 dogs and 25 cats at any one time as the animals seek their forever homes.

But Saturday, Oct.19, the hard work will give way to good fun when the Little Guild holds one of its major fundraisers of the year: the annual Run & Wag 5K.

The event begins at Cornwall Town Green, 27 Pine St., at 11 a.m.

The race starts at noon and progresses through the scenic Coltsfoot Valley.

Participants can run, walk or wag along the course with their furry friends.

The race includes chip timing by Greystone Electronics, with awards for top finishers in adult male, adult female, youth male, and youth female categories.

The best dog/human teams in the same categories will be celebrated.

Back on the green, participants and watchers can enjoy live music, enjoy family-friendly activities and food from local vendors such as Burning Peel Pizza, Ben & Jerry’s, Coffeeology, and Norbrook Farm Brewery.

All proceeds benefit the Little Guild Animal Rescue.

Register at RunSignUp or learn more about the event at Little Guild’s website.
