Roads Are Closed Due to Flooding

KENT—Flooding has closed several roads in Kent today: Kent Hollow Road near Beardsley Road is closed, as is Schaghticoke Road and Camps Flat Road at Mud Pond.

First Selectman Marty Lindenmayer said the roads will remain closed for a while because the saturated ground makes it impossible to drain the water away. “We thought for a while we could make it better,” he said, “but it is a steady rain that will probably continue into the night.”

He said residents will be alerted on the emergency management system as soon as the roads open again. “They should travel with due caution and go around these places if they can,” he said. Motorists can assist the town crew by always following signage, as well as any directions from law enforcement or flaggers.

As of 2 p.m. the wind advisory was cancelled, but Lindenmayer cautioned that temperatures will be dropping, and drivers should be alert for black ice during their morning commutes. The town crew will be sanding.
