Library announces winner of annual car raffle

KENT – Kent Memorial Library has chosen one lucky winner of this year’s car raffle.

Anne McCabe of Bayville, N.Y., was thrilled to get the call at 1 p.m. during the annual Kent Pumpkin Run Oct. 27.

McCabe and her family have owned a cabin on Hatch Pond in Kent for many years. She has been buying tickets every season and her ticket – number #0938 – was finally the winner.

This year’s raffle car was a 2021 Jeep Compass Limited with a sunroof, heated bucket seats, and all-wheel drive.

McCabe’s sister, Jean McCabe, came to Kent on Saturday, Nov. 2, to drive the prize home to Anne.

Kent Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies on a variety of annual fundraising ventures to keep the library and its programming available to the community. The car raffle team, consisting of library volunteers and board members, sold more than 1,300 tickets this year, with all proceeds benefiting library operations.
