Hi, what are you looking for?
We are nearing the anniversary of an important event in American history – the ratification of the Bill of Rights, which comprises the first ten amendments to the Constitution. The Bill of Rights, which was ratified Dec. 15, 1791, outlines a series of rights held by the people that cannot be legislated away by the government.
Among them is the First Amendment, which protects the rights to freedom of religion, speech, a free press, and the right to petition and assemble.
As the nonprofit publisher of the GTD, Kent News, Inc., will on the 232nd anniversary of the ratification, celebrate, in particular, the First Amendment and its protection of a free press with a special program to meet GTD Editor Kathryn Boughton Dec. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Board members and volunteers will join Kathryn for the event at the Fife ’n Drum restaurant at 53 N. Main St.
Refreshments will be served.
