ARB fills vacancy that required an architect

KENT—The Planning and Zoning Commission last week acted to fill a vital vacancy on the Architectural Review Board by appointing architect Jill Porter to its membership. The position had previously been filled by Peter Hanby, who resigned.

The ARB’s bylaws require one member to be an architect, landscape architect or a planner who is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. The ARB approves the appearance of proposed projects located in the Village Center District before Planning and Zoning gives final approval to applications. The lack of a qualified member could have prevented action on applications.

In addition, the PZC reappointed Jonathan Moore, Joanne Wasti and alternate Jeffrey Morgan to new terms on the ARB.
