KENT—Dr. Amy Attas, author of “Pets and The City,” will share all the funny, heartbreaking and life-affirming experiences she’s faced throughout her 30-year career treating the cats and dogs of New Yorkers Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Kent Memorial Library reading room.

Dr. Amy Attas will speak at Kent Memorial Library about her new book, ‘Pets and The City,’ Thursday, Aug. 1.

The program is free and open to the public. Registration is requested.

Some of Attas’ stories are about celebrities, like the time she saw a famous singer naked (no, her rash was not the same as her puppy’s). Others are about remarkable animals, such as the skilled service dog who, after his exam was finished, left the room and returned with a checkbook in his mouth.

Every tale affirms a key truth about animal and human nature: Our pets make us better people.

The library is located at 32 North Main Street; 860-927-3761, kentmemoriallibrary.org.
